Qualifications

Job description

Our client is a leading research-based pharmaceutical organisation with an extensive portfolio across Oncology, Neurology, and Pain therapy areas.

The Electrical & Mechanical Building Services Technician reports to the Estates Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for the reliable and compliant operation of estate-wide services and equipment at the European Knowledge Centre (EKC) in Hatfield.

The main purpose is to deliver high standards of mechanical and electrical services within the estates engineering team, including planning and undertaking routine maintenance of plant and equipment with minimal disruption.

On-call duties (1 in 6) include attending the site on Saturdays, Sundays, and bank holidays for tasks such as blowing down boilers and plant room checks.

Working hours are split: one week from 07:30 to 16:00, and the next from 09:30 to 18:00, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: Up to 50K per annum.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualification in electrical engineering (e.g., BS7671 & C&G 2391) or mechanical engineering (full-term apprenticeship).
  • Good verbal and written English skills.
  • Desirable: Educated to ONC/HNC level.
  • Essential skills include the use of Windows OS, health and safety awareness, multi-skilling in electrical/mechanical engineering, experience with domestic and low-temperature hot water systems, motor controls, relay logic, AHUs, FCUs, chilled water systems, and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours when needed.
  • Experience with CMMS and BMS systems.
  • Desirable: Experience in controlled environments, water systems, and water treatment.
