Job description

Escape Recruitment's client in Dunfermline is looking for a Controls Engineer to join their engineering team. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting electrical/control systems, covering everything from new designs to maintaining existing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review customer technical requirements.
  • Create and maintain drawings, specifications, , test procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Program and configure Siemens PLCs to meet project needs.
  • Develop and test new designs and prototypes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in design, programming, and commissioning.
  • Conduct hazard/risk assessments and system testing to ensure reliability.
  • Work closely with mechanical and project engineers to integrate control systems.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies in control systems and automation.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (equivalent experience also considered).
  • Proficiency in Siemens PLC programming and configuration.
  • Experience creating electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, fault finding, and circuit diagrams.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools.
  • Understanding of industry standards (e.g., IEC, UL, ISO) and safety protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with motion control systems and drives.
  • Familiarity with hydro-mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking protocols (e.g., PROFIBUS, MODBUS).
  • Hands-on experience in commissioning and site support.
