Job summary

The Education Safeguarding Service in Bradford is recruiting two Elective Home Education Access Officers to join the Education Safeguarding Team. You will help ensure children of compulsory school age access, attend and enjoy safe settings, and collaborate with Council teams and wider agencies to support Elective Home Education.

You will engage with families and schools, respond to needs, and work in a multi-agency way to ensure every child receives suitable full-time education.

Qualifications

• Experience in Elective Home Education and safeguarding context desirable.

Responsibilities

• Make a positive contribution to prevention and early help, increasing take up of early education and statutory education for families arriving in Bradford.
• Support, engage and advise families and schools about Elective Home Education.
• Make informal enquiries to identify children electively home educated and assess if they receive suitable full-time education.
• Respond to needs using a multi-agency approach to support electively home educated children not receiving suitable education.

Job description

The Education Safeguarding Service wants to enable all children of compulsory school age in the district to access, attend and enjoy safe settings, and to ensure that the adults who work with them have the knowledge and skills to support them effectively. The aim of this team is to work collaboratively with Council teams and wider agencies to provide a coordinated approach to the well-being of children and young people, whilst continually striving for imaginative and forward thinking practice that will make a difference to the children of Bradford. We are looking to recruit two Elective Home Education Access Officers to join a team of officers who are responsible for Elective Home Education. We are looking for a Elective Home Education Access Officer to join our dedicated team in the Education Safeguarding Team. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city. The main responsibilities of this role:

• To make a positive contribution to the prevention and early help offer, in particular through universal and targeted activities to increase take up of early education, statutory education as families arrive in Bradford and reduce the numbers of children missing education.
• To support, engage and advise families and schools around Elective Home Education.
• To make informal enquiries where children may be electively home educated and consider whether children are in receipt of a suitable full-time education.
• To respond to the needs and work in a multi-agency way to support children who are electively home educated and are not receiving suitable full-time education.
