Elections Support Officer (6 month temporary contract)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised, team player to join our busy, high-performing team that is committed to providing efficient and first-class Electoral and Democratic Services.

The ideal candidate will be a confident and highly motivated person with a hardworking attitude and the ability to work well under pressure. You will be able to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm, have excellent administrative skills, a high level of accuracy, and be able to organise your own workload to meet statutory deadlines.

The candidate will play a hands-on role in the democratic process, helping to organise and manage the conduct of all-scale elections and referenda and by-elections, as well as compiling and producing the electoral register. You will also develop and support initiatives to encourage more residents to participate in the democratic process.

Experience of working in Electoral Services is not necessary; we are looking for candidates with excellent organisational skills and a willingness to learn. This role is a politically restricted post due to the nature of the work and liaising with Political Parties, Councillors, and Candidates.

During peak periods, such as during an election timetable and canvass, there will be a requirement to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends to meet demanding deadlines, so a flexible working approach is essential.

This is a great opportunity; we’re looking for driven candidates who are interested in developing a career in Elections or Democratic Services and increasing their professional skills within a challenging and fast-changing environment.

Interview date: 13th December 2024

For an informal discussion please contact Rebecca Poole, Democracy and Information Governance Officer: 01453 754382.

In exchange for your expertise, experience, and enthusiasm, we provide a range of staff benefits; please click here for more information.
