Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Electoral Services Officer to join the Corporate Services directorate. The role focuses on delivering elections and referendums, recruiting and administering polling station and count staff, and managing the electoral register.

You will ideally be a member of the Association of Electoral Administrators and work towards the AEA Certificate in Electoral Administration, with a solid understanding of electoral law and related

Qualifications

• Experience in elections or electoral services.
• Understanding of electoral legislation and statutory framework.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the organisation and delivery of all elections and referendums, while undertaking duties associated with electoral registration throughout the year and during the annual canvass.
• Demonstrate a methodical approach to problem-solving, remain calm under pressure, and be comfortable working to demanding timescales and fixed statutory deadlines.
• Possess excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
• Be an effective communicator with strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience of using electoral management systems.
• Have a positive and flexible approach, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and a commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
