Overview

81781 - EHV Maintenance Engineer

This EHV Maintenance Engineer will report to the EHV Senior Project Manager and will work within Network Operations based in our Bidder Street, Canning Town office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.

You will attract a salary of £65,241 and a bonus of 3%.

If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check

Nature and Scope

You will have overall responsibility for the daily delivery of the responsibilities associated with LPN EHV Inspections and Maintenance in London. Alongside the management of the Inspection and Maintenance programme, youwill provide regular reporting on KPI and safety performance measure.

You will manage the coordination and technical performance of field staff and apprentices. This includes liaison with Asset Management, Capital Programme, Major Projects, and local Areas, to ensure the maximum utilisation of all staff on day-to-day basis.

You will assist in developing and managing an EHV staff progression plan, ensuring the highest level of operational experience is gained with regular milestone reviews - practical and theoretical.

To recognise the significance of this position the successful candidate will also be expected to take a proactive approach towards continuing their professional development in the areas of engineering, safety, leadership and general management

Principal Accountabilities
  • Provide engineering, safety and management leadership to a group of field staff working across all operational disciplines.
  • To liaise closely with Primary Network Control and the Outage Planning to Ensure Maintenance works are planned, resourced and completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Communicate with the Senior Project Manager, of Maintenance / EHV Cables / Protection in London Region to identify any synergies
  • Ensure that a high standard of safety management prevails throughout all areas of responsibility and that safety performance is maintained within parameters defined by the Executive. Ensure that staff are put to work under current Policies.
  • Ensure staff comply with Company procedures and complete work to the required standards.
  • Support daily planning, coordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources including directly employed staff and contractors. You will ensure that sufficient work is available and prioritised.
  • Establish a process of continuous improvement through Individual Performance Review and the development of staff and utilisation of new technology.
  • Responsible for staff development of the group including increasing Authorisation levels and Career Progression
  • To manage Field Staff competency and safety audits
  • Contribute as required to an on-going high level Strategic Resource Plan.
Essential Qualifications
  • You will have both a high degree of experience in field engineering and be able to demonstrate a high level of initiative and commitment towards meeting business targets.
  • A detailed understanding of Primary plant and switchgear is essential and experience with maintenance, defect diagnosis / repair is needed.
  • You will be someone who inspires those you mentor, setting the highest of standards in all areas including professional conduct carrying with it a high level of self-motivation.
  • We are looking for good communication skills and the ability to partner with other parts of Network Operations to resolve problems and develop and implement new plans.
  • As an exception for this advert, we will still consider candidates that have all the necessary experience and attributes to undertake the role, but do not hold a HNC if they are prepared to undertake further studies to obtain a HNC or equivalent qualification.

You should hold a NRSWA Supervisors certificate and have a clean full UK driving licence.
