EHS ADVISOR

SOUTH QUEENSFERRY, EH30 9SH (ONSITE)

COMPETITIVE SALARY

Progress Rail is looking to recruit An EHS Advisor to provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to ensure employee health and the environment are protected. Conduct and supervise activities that ensure compliance with governmental regulations and corporate policies. To undertake Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) activities across the company's facilities in the South Queensferry facility.

THE ROLE:
As an EHS Advisor you will be required to:
  • Assist operations management in understanding related EHS requirements and their impact on operations
  • Demonstrate safe operational practices and integrity whilst carrying out the duties of the EHS advisor role
  • Maintain communications with the facilities Leadership Teams
  • Manage EHS systems to maintain accreditation to both ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards. Also to contribute to the development of the EHS management system
  • Conduct internal EHS audits and assist in preparation for external audits and visits
  • Identify common safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organisations operations and works with the EHS Manager and corporate EHS to establish guidelines for protection from those hazards
  • Evaluate the impact of impending regulations and communicates these issues to appropriate facility personnel
  • Prepare and review EHS training materials for the facility and/or perform training that has already been developed and recommend further training requirements, based on known hazards and risks within the business
  • Provide annual training to employees on a range of EHS topics
  • Conduct new hire orientation with all new starters
  • Assists management in addressing and correcting Compliance Audit findings
  • Monitor, track, and follow up on Safety Improvement cards that are submitted to SQF the facility
  • Perform and manage incident investigations where required and ensure all documentation is filled out correctly
  • Utilise and modify the corporations "best management practice" programs and plans to fit the needs of the facility
  • Carry out frequent walks of facilities shop floors engaging with employees to improve the safety culture
  • Investigate and establish standards for protective equipment
  • Perform self-assessments of safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Generate and review reports for environmental and safety agencies
  • Responsible for the management and governance of the site "Part A - PPC -Operating permit" including the preparation and maintenance of all documentation, records and data submissions to the relevant enforcement agencies
  • Responsible for the management and governance of the site's Legionella management systems including the preparation of all documentation, maintenance of records and submissions to the relevant enforcement agencies
  • Management and governance of the sites waste management systems including the preparation of all documentation, maintenance of records and submissions to the relevant enforcement agencies
  • Management and governance of the site noise control plans
  • Management of the site energy conservation plans
  • Provide support and advice to facility departments in the review and update of COSHH, PUWER and Risk Assessments, to ensure their suitability and sufficiency
  • Conduct monthly EHS committee meetings
  • Develop the Monthly Safety report
  • Monitor the compliance of the Asbestos Management Register and Risk Plan where applicable
  • Conduct and maintain the EHS Safety Walk systems
  • Designated site security manager for the SQF facility
  • Perform other tasks in keeping in line with the post as required by the EHS Manager and General manager responsible for the site.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal EHS Advisor:
  • Breadth of knowledge and experience including EHS regulations, programs and policies
  • NEBOSH general certificate with at least 3 years' experience is required. A technical degree or NEBOSH diploma is highly desired
  • Strong understanding of EHS regulations and corporate standards is essential.
  • Excellent communicator across all levels
