Job description

Job Title: EHCP Writer
Location: West Midlands (Remote/Hybrid options available)
Rate: £300 - £350 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract: 3–6 months initial contract with possible extension
Start Date: ASAP
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented EHCP Writer to support a local authority in the West Midlands with the timely drafting and quality assurance of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of SEND legislation and experience writing legally compliant, person-centred plans.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Write and quality assure EHCPs in line with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory timelines.
  • Work closely with SEND Case Officers, Educational Psychologists, and other professionals to ensure all contributions are reflected appropriately.
  • Ensure the voice of the child/young person and family is captured clearly in all documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and adhere to internal quality standards.
  • Manage caseload efficiently to meet service KPIs.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in writing and/or quality assuring EHCPs.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Excellent written communication skills with attention to legal accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Enhanced DBS (within 12 months or on the update service) desirable.
