Job summary

Learning Curve Group is seeking an EHCP Learning Support Assistant for a three-day weekly role in Coventry, focusing on learners with additional learning needs and EHCP plans. You will support access to a wide range of learning experiences and help tailor materials to individual needs.

Ideal candidates will have SEND experience with Post-16 learners and will work under the guidance of the SENCO, contributing to annual reviews while upholding safeguarding and confidentiality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced EHCP learning support Advisor/Mentor who can support learners with additional learning needs. This is a unique role for 3 days a week working within a Military Academy. Knowledge and experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND) is essential. If you are passionate about making a real difference to young people;


Role Information

Our academies' provision at Learning Curve Group supports thousands of learners to gain hands‑on experience in their chosen profession, whether that be Hair & Beauty, Military, or Construction.


Key Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provide structured support using a range of effective interventions (as per their EHCP Plan) within a class and/or outdoor setting

  • To aid access to the full range of learning experiences and provide modified materials as required e.g. worksheets, games, visual prompt cards etc.

  • Provide positive reinforcements, praise, and emotional support to learners

  • Advise and support tutors with making necessary adjustments for learners with learning support needs

  • Ensure Learning Support Plans and contact logs are updated accurately and timely

  • Work as part of the team to ensure that the well-being and personal development of the learner enhance their learning opportunities and life skills.

  • Agree on learning support aims and interventions with the learner and set these out in the Learning Support Plan

  • Provide regular feedback to the SENCO and, where necessary, relevant outside agencies about any pupil's difficulties and progress.

  • Contribute to the Learners' annual review by writing a brief report and attending the meeting

  • Foster links with External Agencies and Carers

  • Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with learners and support interaction between them.

  • Attend in service training and relevant meetings relevant to the post in order to keep up to date with developments

  • Carry out tasks and responsibilities under the direction of the SENCO

  • Comply with the Safeguarding, Prevent and Health and Safety Policies and be vigilant to potential concerns and risks at all times

  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

  • Provide learners, customers and colleagues with support, advice guidance as part of your everyday role

  • Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours

  • Promote equal opportunities and recognition of diversity throughout the company


Working Flexibly

Essentia Criteria


  • Must have a Minimum of 2 years experience working with Post 16 Learners

  • Knowledge and experience of working with Post 16 learners with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP)

  • GCSE, 'O' Level or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.

  • NVQ3 or equivalent as recognised by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning

  • knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of Learners

  • Have training in aspects of SEN, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, SEMH etc

  • Calm and patient attitude
