Qualifications

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing a caseload of children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This includes overseeing the child's journey from statutory assessment to placement, ensuring all statutory processes are met, and finalising their EHCP using key working principles with families. Ensure effective communication with parents and external agencies regarding policies, services, and processes related to SEND, providing an accessible and welcoming environment. Act as the named officer for a group of schools, while remaining flexible to work as part of a team, supporting parents, carers, and colleagues. Foster and maintain strong working relationships with partner agencies. Draft and produce high-quality EHC Plans and host co-production meetings. Attend annual reviews and transition reviews as per procedures.

Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Good educational standard (GCSE or equivalent passes in English and Maths, with 5 GCSEs or equivalent grades A* – C)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (Children and Families Act 2014, 0-25 SEND Code of Practice)
  • Understanding of applying equal opportunities principles in practice to address equality and diversity issues
Experience
  • Experience establishing effective relationships with parents, young people, and professionals, utilizing key working principles
  • Knowledge of current issues in education for children and adults with complex needs, including safeguarding
  • Experience working in a multi-agency setting
Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse individuals
  • Ability to chair professional and parent meetings
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, capable of managing competing demands and meeting deadlines
