Job description

The Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) at NHS Grampian currently has a vacancy for a Band 8a Technical Manager / Deputy Head. The candidate will oversee the day to day running of the technical teams within the department and must be highly specialist in servicing and maintaining a range of patient applied equipment used in clinical areas throughout the Grampian region.

Candidates should have sound knowledge of national policies and regulations covering medical equipment and be expected to lead on the development of the department's HSE/QMS systems. They should also have extensive experience in electrical/electronic engineering, to include broad experience at a management level, and be able to clearly demonstrate post qualification technical training and experience in the support of a broad range of medical equipment.

High personal integrity and sympathetic people skills, with the ability to fit in and perform as part of a wider team providing technical support to critical care and other clinical areas, are essential. The base for the post-holder will be in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen, although they can be expected to carry out their duties across related Health Board sites as necessary. A driving licence is therefore essential.

This post will also allow for working from home one day per week.
