NHS Grampian is seeking passionate and motivated children’s nurses who have recently registered or will be registered by September 2025. We offer both permanent and temporary positions, with full-time (37 hours, reducing to 36 hours in April 2026) and part-time options, including flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should have completed all required academic and practice placements, including make-up time and resits, by December 1, 2025. There will be opportunities for further vacancies later in the year, allowing those who haven't completed all elements to reapply in the next recruitment round.
Candidates may specify preferred departments either in the application or during interviews. Placement allocations will depend on vacancies and interview scores, with highest scorers prioritized. Outcomes will be communicated by July 18, 2025, and successful candidates will be informed of their first placement by early September 2025.
New graduates are encouraged to explore different areas in their second year, although requests to remain in the initial area will be considered.
The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) and the Neonatal Unit (NNU) are tertiary centers offering comprehensive services for children and newborns. A new NNU will be located at the upcoming Baird Family Hospital. The Paediatric service in Elgin supports admissions from Moray.

All NGNs will be supported to complete the Flying Start NHS program in their first year, and NHS Grampian supports further academic study at the Master’s level.

Interviews will be held in person at the hospital, with hospital tours available. Alternatively, interviews can be conducted over Microsoft Teams. A breakout room will be available post-interview for refreshments and information on development opportunities and the Home Care service. Current staff will be available to show candidates around and answer questions. This is a great opportunity to start your career as a Children’s Nurse in NHS Grampian.
