Job summary

The Holiday Inn Basildon is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team and help keep the kitchen running smoothly, safely and efficiently. You will support chefs, maintain cleanliness, and assist with basic prep to ensure a calm, efficient environment where the team can perform at their best.

In this role you will work behind the scenes to support food quality, hygiene and service flow, contributing to a positive dining experience for guests.

Qualifications

• Reliable and hardworking candidate with a can-do attitude.
• Ability to work well within a kitchen team and follow directions.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to safe, hygienic kitchen practices.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean dishes, pots, pans and kitchen equipment thoroughly and efficiently.
• Keep all kitchen areas clean, tidy and organised throughout the shift.
• Sweep and mop floors and manage waste and recycling responsibly.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling and chopping vegetables.
• Receive, check and store deliveries of food and kitchen supplies correctly.
• Support kitchen set‑up and close‑down procedures.
• Clean cooking equipment and work surfaces to hygiene standards.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and health & safety guidelines at all times.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support smooth service.
• Report any maintenance, hygiene or health & safety concerns promptly.
