Senior IT Security Officer
We are recruiting for a Senior IT Security Officer on a permanent basis. The role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining security controls to enhance the security capabilities within the IT Security, Compliance, and Identity functions.
This role ensures the protection of assets, systems, and data from internal and external threats, while continuously improving security controls.
Responsibilities:
- Support the management of Security Operations, establishing methods and tools to reduce risk through proactive monitoring, incident response, threat management, and vulnerability management.
- Maintain operational security processes and investigate security breaches as needed.
- Monitor external security environment and report emerging threats to leadership.
- Plan and conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, advising on tools and techniques.
- Contribute to risk management by providing technical advice on risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Manage improvements within the Security Operations Centre and act as an escalation point for complex situations.
- Design, deliver, and continuously improve IT Security capabilities aligned with business needs.
- Promote the Security, Compliance & Identity function and develop stakeholder relationships.
- Develop and maintain security incident playbooks and guidance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Expertise in Security Operations, Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Assessment, and Risk Management.
- Knowledge of IT Service Frameworks like ITIL v4 and Agile.
- Understanding of SOC activities and technical security measures such as firewalls and access controls.
Experience:
- Enhancing security postures and capabilities through continual improvement.
- Handling live cyber incidents and remediation.
- Partnering with suppliers for managed security services.
- Working across software, servers, infrastructure, and networks.
- Implementing secure systems and understanding system vulnerabilities.
Details:
- Salary: £38,500 – £52,000
- Working Hours: Full time, Monday – Friday
- Location: Birmingham/Hybrid
- Duration: Permanent
