Job description

Job summary

NHS England, working in the West Midlands, is seeking to recruit a Deputy Head of School and Quality Lead for The School of O&G on a part-time secondment basis.

NHS England, working in the West Midlands, is looking for a Deputy Head of School to join this School. Our work is set within the Five Year forward view for the NHS and is defined by the NHS England Mandate from Government. It is part of the consensus on how the NHS needs to change, with a key focus on prevention and a commitment to reducing health inequalities and promoting equality and diversity.

As part of a national system, please note that a flat rate of £10,000 per PA, per year, (or pro rata as necessary) will be paid to a Trust for successful candidates appointed to TPD roles. This should be treated as a contribution towards the overall cost and is not a reflection of the individual's pay.

Main duties of the job
  1. You will support the Head of School to be responsible for the overall quality, management and supervision of the programmes within the School. This includes ensuring all programmes meet the standards defined by NHS England, the GMC, and Royal College.
  2. You will work closely with the Head of School, NHS England's senior educators, other Heads of Schools, Directors of Medical Education, and Training Programme Directors to ensure comprehensive training experiences covering the speciality curricula.
  3. You will be expected to maintain a clinical commitment. It is essential to have a medical degree, membership/fellowship of the relevant Royal College/Faculty, and a current substantive contract as an NHS Consultant in a relevant specialty.
  4. You should possess excellent leadership skills and meet professional requirements for Continuing Professional Development and Revalidation, contributing academically and managerially.

This role is based in the West Midlands, spanning the entire region. The post is offered on a secondment basis; successful candidates must secure written agreement from their employer for release from clinical duties for the specified PAs.
