Roles of an ENP

ENPs assess, diagnose, treat, and discharge patients, often in the 'Minors' area of the department, working within guidelines set with the clinical lead. Responsibilities include:

  • Patient assessment, including pain management
  • Diagnosing issues such as sprains, strains, cuts, bites, and minor injuries
  • Reading and assessing X-rays
  • Administering medications, including antibiotics
  • Recording ECG examinations
  • Discharging patients when appropriate
ENP Role Requirements
  • NMC registration
  • Recent 6 months experience within the last 12 months
  • Evidence of completion of V300 prescribing certificate
  • Full EPP clearance of immunisations
  • Two clinical references demonstrating ENP skills
