We are looking for individuals with working knowledge or solid qualifications in applied physics, electro-optics, signal processing, artificial intelligence, radar systems, robotics and autonomy, applied mathematics and statistics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and advanced servo control engineering.

This role is based onsite in Southampton, Basildon, or Bristol on a hybrid basis.

About the Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will bridge the gap between theoretical possibilities and practical implementation in real systems. We need talented scientists and engineers to transform early concepts into working radar solutions.

You do not need an engineering background to make a difference; many of our System Engineers come from scientific backgrounds.

Responsibilities include:

• Applied research: exploring new technologies or concepts.
• High-level design: understanding how design decisions impact performance.
• Low-level design: detailed redesign, prototyping, and optimization within your technical domain.

About You

Ideally, you hold a PhD, EngD, or relevant research experience in Mathematics, Engineering, or related Technology fields, or have proven experience. Electronic warfare domain knowledge is not required as we can provide support.

Additional qualities include:

• Experience in collaboration within research groups or wider teams.
• A drive for continuous learning.
• A methodical approach to solving complex problems.
• Experience in planning and leading technical research or development tasks.
• An understanding of Systems Engineering processes.
• Coding skills, with experience in programming languages or problem-solving models; Matlab and Simulink experience is advantageous.
