Role: Social Housing Solicitor Director

Leading law firm looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Social Housing Solicitor / Director for a highly sought-after permanent position.

Our client serves corporate entities and private individuals across over 25 practice areas from offices throughout London and across England and Wales. Housing Department Background:

Their Housing team, ranked by The Legal 500 for its services across England and Wales, provides assistance to landlords and tenants on all housing issues. They are highly experienced in resolving housing disputes quickly and effectively, offering lawyer-supported dispute resolution or ADR for disrepair matters. The department also represents clients in courts for unlawful eviction, possession proceedings, and judicial review cases related to homelessness.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Report directly to and collaborate with the Board to meet performance targets
2. Oversee all aspects of Housing work, providing technical expertise and guidance
3. Significant experience in representing clients under the Housing Court Duty Scheme within the last 2 years
4. Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, handling appropriate caseloads
5. Assist with training and development within the department
6. Handle a variety of housing cases including Homelessness, Disrepair, Eviction, Possession, Property Disputes, Succession, Housing adaptations, Social Housing, and Neighbourhood Problems, including advocacy
7. Manage emergency cases and strategic litigation
8. Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
9. Draft documents such as witness statements and process evidence
10. Maintain a proactive approach, deliver excellent client care, and contribute to business development and marketing efforts

Key Skills Required:

1. 3+ years PQE with proven experience in Housing and Litigation, including court representation
2. Experience as Duty Advisor under the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme in the last 2 years
3. Willingness to work towards or meet the 2013 SQM Supervisor standard in Housing
4. Experience in welfare rights and community care issues
5. Valid Practicing Certificate at the time of application
6. Strong management skills and team leadership
7. Proactive, client-focused, with excellent networking, communication, and marketing skills
8. Experience with publicly funded housing work and ability to handle private cases
9. Advocacy experience is advantageous
10. Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and document management systems
11. Experience within the legal sector is preferred
12. Ability to manage social media activities for promotion
