Job description

Trustee to join the board of a growing charity - Swindon City of Sanctuary

What difference will you make?

By joining Swindon City of Sanctuary as a trustee, you will help make Swindon a welcoming place for new arrivals. You will educate the community about the importance of this welcome and the value that new arrivals bring. Additionally, you will collaborate with the national City of Sanctuary group to influence government legislation related to immigration.

What are we looking for?

We seek a committed individual to support new arrivals in Swindon, especially from the sanctuary-seeking community. Skills in grant applications, social media, and education to raise awareness are desirable. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. What will you be doing?

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals eager to make a difference as trustees. Swindon City of Sanctuary, established in 2016 and registered in 2018, promotes a culture of welcome and inclusion for all, focusing on those seeking sanctuary. Our activities include community engagement, practical support, awareness campaigns, and advocacy for social justice, contributing to the national City of Sanctuary UK movement.

The charity is supported by a dedicated staff team and volunteers, with core funding from The National Lottery Community Fund until 2026.
