Location: Manchester
Salary: £90 - £120 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only

Are you passionate about mental health and wellbeing? Do you want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for a compassionate Mental Health & Wellbeing Mentor to support students in a diverse and inclusive secondary school in Manchester. This role focuses on providing emotional support, developing resilience, and promoting positive mental health strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring sessions to students experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and stress.
  • Act as a first point of contact for students who need emotional support.
  • Work alongside pastoral staff, SENCOs, and safeguarding teams to ensure students receive the right interventions.
  • Develop and implement tailored wellbeing strategies to help students manage their emotions and behaviour.
  • Deliver workshops on topics such as mindfulness, resilience, and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with external mental health professionals and support services when needed.
  • Keep accurate records of student progress and wellbeing concerns.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience in mental health support, youth work, counselling, or pastoral care.
  • A background in psychology, counselling, social work, or a related field is beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures in schools (training can be provided).
