Join a pioneering start-up focused on ocean monitoring with innovative robotic technology. As the Operations & Logistics Lead, you'll play a vital role in organizing the logistics of deploying C-Stars, ensuring smooth operations while adapting to the fast-paced environment of a growing company. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to develop your skills and transition into higher roles as the company expands. With a commitment to revolutionizing ocean data collection, you'll be part of a passionate team making waves in climate monitoring and marine research.
We're a small, fast-growing start-up that makes constellations of small ocean monitoring robots called C-Stars. The C-Stars have just started completing long-duration missions, collecting data unscathed in huge storms, and we've begun a GBP2m project to build and deploy a large-scale constellation into the North Atlantic for climate monitoring.
As we grow, we need help. We need someone to steer the logistics, paperwork, and people that make these missions happen, and to grow into the operational brain of the company.
Your work will be incredibly varied. You'll be organizing the shipping of C-Stars worldwide, drafting VAT returns, staying on top of battery certifications, writing conference abstracts, customer newsletters, joining sea trials, and shaving costs from our materials bill. We're open to a wide range of candidates, and experience in these tasks isn't essential. We expect this role to transition to either a project manager, chief of staff, or COO as Oshen grows, and we are willing to support and train you to make this happen depending on your ambitions.
We care about your ability to get things done, not shiny certificates. We'll be hiring for the five traits listed earlier: organisation, detail focus, ownership, fast learning, and calm under pressure. Experience and proof of these traits are what we're looking for in the hiring process. Whether this experience came from a degree, a formal ops title, or a side project doesn't matter to us.
We've spotted a problem. Data steers almost every decision we make: from routing Ubers through rush-hour traffic to telling your smartwatch when to stand up. Yet the ocean, which covers 70% of the planet, regulates our weather & climate, carries 80% of the world's goods around the globe, is still a blank spot on the map. Autonomous surface vessels exist, but nobody has cracked the next leap: tiny, low-cost robots deployed by the thousand for always-on, truly global monitoring.
We want to build a world where the oceans are no longer a great unknown. We're a small team already making our rugged C-Stars successfully navigate storms, operate across 3 continents, and provide ocean data to key institutes. And we're just getting started.
