Job description

Teacher of Boys' Physical Education

A thriving Special School for Boys based in Birmingham are looking to appoint a passionate and motivated Teacher of Boys' Physical Education to join their team. The successful Teacher will be committed to delivering high-quality physical education lessons and creating engaging opportunities for students to develop both physically and socially.

The students have a range of learning needs, including social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The school strives to create an inclusive, nurturing, and dynamic environment where all students can flourish and succeed.

This is a long term, full time position that is starting immediately.

The Teacher must have QTS as you will be teaching students from Year 2 to Year 9.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Delivering physical education lessons to boys, tailored to their individual learning needs and abilities.
  2. Planning and implementing inclusive and engaging PE lessons that promote physical development, teamwork, and social skills.
  3. Supporting students with additional needs both inside and outside of the classroom, ensuring they receive the guidance they need to succeed.
  4. Promoting physical activity as part of a holistic approach to wellbeing.
  5. Encouraging participation in extracurricular sports and activities.
  6. Collaborating with the wider staff team to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  7. Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing feedback to support improvement.
  8. Building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Key Skills and Experience:
  1. A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  2. A passion for physical education and working with young people, particularly those with special educational needs.
  3. Experience teaching physical education in a primary/secondary school setting (preferred).
  4. Strong understanding of how to adapt PE lessons to meet the needs of students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and other additional needs.
  5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  6. Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude towards inclusive education.
