An exciting opportunity has risen for a permanent Dietitian within the Paediatric team at Nottingham Children's hospital

Are you a dietitian keen to expand your clinical experience in paediatrics? Do you have a passion for improving patient outcomes with the best nutritional care?

We are looking for a forward thinking and enthusiastic dietitian to join our established team of 32 paediatric dietitians, based at Nottingham Children's Hospital at NUH. You will become an integral member of our supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high quality, patient centred dietetic care.

You will manage a varied In-patient and Out-patient general paediatric caseload (0-19yrs) including allergies , growth faltering , cardiac babies and unwell children who need nutrition support including enteral feeding .

Previous paediatric dietetic experience is desirable but not essential

Main duties of the job

Applicants should have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage their own time and workload within a supportive team.

You will also be able to build good working relationships with the wider team within the hospital in order to provide excellent care to patients and their families.

You will be part of an experienced paediatric team who will support development within this specialist area.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has close links with Nottingham University and takes dietetic students for A, B and C placements.

About us

The Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) is based at the Queens Medical Centre campus and is part of NUH. We provide in-patient and out-patient care for children up to the age of 19 years old.

With 97 beds, we care for around 40,000 children each year from Nottinghamshire and beyond, treating a full range of conditions, including planned and emergency treatment and surgery, burns and plastics, neurological conditions, oncology, paediatric critical care, renal conditions and transplantation, gastroenterology, and spinal and orthopaedic care.

The Children's Dietetic team at NCH is a friendly and supportive department who work closely alongside the wider MDT, providing excellent evidence based care and innovative ways of working.

Throughout NUH we have a diverse range of AHP and support staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to supported by our Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction.

Job responsibilities

You must have experience of working as a Dietitian. You will need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload and that of other members of staff within a supportive team. You will work alongside dietitians as well as dietetic technicians and dietetic assistants. We expect you to beenthusiastic, motivated and keen to develop your own skills and those of others. Experience of nutritional support is essential. Additional training will be provided.

As part of this role it is essential on some areas that you will be able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) accordingly to national and local guidance.

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Dietitian (4 year degree, post-graduate diploma or equivalent).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council.


Desirable

  • Member of BDA including specialist group.


Experience

  • Experience of working as a registered dietitian
  • Able to apply additional depth of knowledge gained through experience to specialist area.


Desirable

  • Experience of working in relevant specialist area/s.
