Job Title: Waste Manager
We are seeking a dedicated Waste Manager to oversee and manage the waste management unit, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery. This role is crucial for leading the waste management team and ensuring that all operations align with regulatory standards and council policies.
Position Details:
- Hourly Rate: 25.86 (PAYE)
- Location: Hellaby, Rotherham
- Job Type: Full-time, Flexible hours (may include out-of-hours work)
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Lead the waste management team, handle HR matters, health & safety, and performance management.
- Service Delivery: Monitor and control operational service delivery to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Financial Management: Manage budgets and ensure financial targets are met.
- Procurement & Contracts: Oversee procurement and management of both internal and external services.
- Customer Service: Maintain high-quality, customer-focused service delivery.
- Planning & Reporting: Prepare service and action plans, and produce detailed reports and management information.
- Partnerships: Develop strategic partnerships and collaborative working arrangements.
- Regulation & Compliance: Ensure activities comply with relevant legislation and regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Significant management experience in waste services, including leadership, HR management, and working with external agencies.
- Education: Level 7 qualification (e.g., Post Graduate Certificates/Diplomas) or equivalent experience.
- Skills: Effective communication, negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
- Other Requirements: Ability to travel within the Borough, good attendance record, adherence to Council policies, and safeguarding responsibilities.
