Principal Marine Engineer

Our client is an established engineering consultancy recognised for tackling the most complex challenges in marine and defence sectors. With projects spanning the entire lifecycle of naval vessels, they provide technical assurance, design analysis, and support services across both UK and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead engineering teams and provide technical assurance on submarine-related projects.
2. Support the development of marine engineering capability and customer relationships within the UK and overseas.
3. Drive delivery of marine engineering aspects across complex engineering challenges, feasibility studies, and design analyses.
4. Contribute to broader consultancy projects and R&D into future submarine concepts and tools.
5. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and support opportunity development across the business.
6. Participate in travel to client and office sites as required, including occasional overseas trips.

Qualifications & Experiences

• Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional engineering body.
• Strong technical leadership experience in the submarine domain, preferably with service in the UK Royal Navy’s Mechanical/Marine Engineering specialism. Alternatively, significant technical expertise in submarine Nuclear Propulsion and Mechanical systems, with familiarity with UK MoD submarine processes and clients.
• Excellent communication skills, integrity, and the ability to influence and engage with both internal teams and external customers.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing others and maintaining a respectful, diverse, and collaborative culture.
• Understanding of the full platform lifecycle from concept to disposal is advantageous.
• Enthusiastic and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and grow.
