Job description

Assistant Accountant, £30,000, 15 month contract, hybrid

Your new company

Hays are delighted to be working with a large top 100 employer based in Belfast to recruit for an assistant accountant for a period of 15 months.

Your new role

1. Assist in the preparation and reporting of monthly management accounts and sub-sections thereof;
2. Posting of month end journals including but not exclusive to: Revenue, Cost of Sales, Stock;
3. Raising of third party and intercompany purchase orders & recharges;
4. Lead in the preparation and reporting of expenditure against budget; including analysing expenditure, calculating appropriate accruals/prepayments; working with budget-holders/managers, identifying variances, preparing explanatory commentary and presentation of results to senior members of the finance team and budget-holders;
5. Management HMRC submissions including Duty, VAT, P46s & P11Ds;
6. Preparation of weekly/monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including debtors, creditors, accruals, prepayments, highlighting overdue/queried balances;
7. Support the annual budget process and statutory audit, including dealing with queries/preparing reports.

What you'll need to succeed

• Qualified at a minimum level to one of the following:
• IATI qualified and with at least one year's finance experience in a relevant finance environment; or
• Degree qualified in finance, business, accounting, or other analytical degree and have commenced their qualifications for ACCA (Skills Level) or CIMA (Operational Level) and with at least one year's finance experience in a relevant finance environment; or
• At least three years finance experience working in a relevant finance environment.
