Job description

Manpower are currently recruiting for a permanent Trade Affairs Coordinator for our client in Ashford Kent.


Hours: 36.25 Per Week
Schedule: Monday - Friday


Trade Affairs Coordinator - Import / Customs

As a Trade Affairs Coordinator, you will oversee and coordinate all customs-related activities at our client site in Ashford. In this key role, you will optimise daily customs clearance procedures, ensure compliance with inward processing and trade regulations, and manage customs duties effectively.


You will be responsible for managing the clearance of goods at the border, ensuring documentation and data entry are compliant with licensing requirements. The role also involves significant administrative tasks, as well as coordination with both internal and external partners to ensure timely and efficient processes, handling daily exceptions and requests.


You will report directly to the Shipping/Planning Manager and functionally to the UK Trade Affairs Manager, collaborating closely with other departments and teams.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage daily customs activities and documentation.
  2. Serve as the main point of contact for local customs authorities.
  3. Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and maintain import/export records.
  4. Coordinate import and export declarations with customs agents and forwarders.
  5. Manage duties, refunds, and duty drawbacks, including optimising the IPR program.
  6. Support customs audits and ensure smooth inbound and outbound duty processes.
  7. Verify duty applications and monitor SLAs with customs brokers/forwarders.
  8. Provide functional support to other departments as required.

Key Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, with expertise in import/export compliance and inward processing.
  2. Experience in filing IPR submissions to UK Tax & Revenue.
  3. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  4. Proficiency in SAP/GTS and Excel.
  5. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a matrix environment.
