Do you have a passion for one-to-one education and making a meaningful impact outside the classroom? Are you a confident driver and eager to support students with special educational needs in their homes or local settings?

GSL Education are looking to appoint a dedicated and flexible Peripatetic Home Tutor to work with children and young people in Chesterfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide targeted academic support to learners who are unable to attend school due to various needs, including SEN.

This role is ideal for compassionate professionals who can deliver tailored lessons in English, Maths, and/or other core subjects while travelling to students in their home environments. The aim is to re-engage learners, help them overcome barriers to education, and support them in reaching their academic goals.

Peripatetic Home Tutor Responsibilities:

• Deliver personalised tutoring sessions to students, mainly on a one-to-one basis
• Travel between locations to work with students in their homes or other approved settings
• Plan and adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles, needs, and abilities
• Record and report on student progress, liaising with GSL consultants, schools, and families
• Support students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including SEMH, ASD, and ADHD
• Promote academic confidence, emotional wellbeing, and routine learning
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and learning objectives

Requirements for Peripatetic Home Tutor:

• UK recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE) or tutoring experience in a similar setting
• Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths, or core subjects
• Previous experience working with children and young people with SEN
• Must be a driver with access to your own vehicle (role is travel-based)
• Confident in managing challenging behaviour and adapting approaches
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
