Location: Observation Associates, 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ 07065

Job Summary:

The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will deliver health care in critical care settings, including recognition and management of critical illnesses and injuries, with emphasis on early detection, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

Essential Functions:
  • Obtains and records patient history
  • Performs physical and medical screening examinations
  • Completes diagnostic and therapeutic studies
  • Orders diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies, or other therapies as appropriate
  • Establishes diagnostic decision-making and initiates treatment plans
  • Coordinates patient care with other health care team members and initiates consultation requests
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding health, referring to specialists/resources as needed
  • Completes thorough and timely charting
  • Manages patient flow in the ICU effectively
  • Performs procedures as allowed by law and under supervision
  • Works within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards
  • Participates in staff meetings and risk management education
  • Completes required courses (HIPAA, EMTALA, CME/CEU)
  • Performs other duties including lectures and quality improvement projects
Job Requirements:
  • Physician Assistant Certification and registration/licensure in NJ
  • OR Master’s degree in Nursing, NP Certification, and NJ RN license with current CDS and DEA
  • Prior nursing experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS if required
  • Membership in professional organizations preferred
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Emergency medicine knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to collaborate with ICU and hospital staff
