Qualifications

  • 2+ years of medical/clinical experience or graduation from a Medical Assistant program.
  • CPR/AED Certified with ability to manage crisis situations.

Overview

Under the supervision and/or direction of the physician or nurse, performs various duties assisting with the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform Point of Care Testing and quality control. Performs EKGs as necessary. Ensures positive patient identification.
  2. Understand how to utilize the following systems: Current health information system, DHIN (Delaware Health Information Network), Provider Portal, Web sites for insurance verification/eligibility and other systems as needed; athenaHealth a plus.
  3. Follow protocols appropriate for the practice.
  4. Complete office support tasks accurately and within required time frames. Return and retrieve messages timely and utilize the EMR inboxes to sort messages.
  5. Routinely demonstrate proper technique in operating all office equipment. Maintain clean/stocked patient care area.
  6. Demonstrate Medical Assistant Skill Proficiency. Assist nurses with patient preparation for examinations, treatments and/or procedures.
  7. Prioritize tasks and demonstrate initiative. Readily seek out duties and work with all staff to render assistance. Complete all duties in a positive and productive manner. Take an active role in performance improvement.
  8. Be conscious of biohazard safety as it relates to the job; manually deliver specimens to lab, change gloves between patients. Handle specimens using proper techniques and correctly label for transfer to lab.
  9. Routinely perform all duties using appropriate PPE and in accordance with OSHA standards.
  10. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Two years medical/clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program.

CPR/AED Certified.

Ability to respond to and withstand crisis situations. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider or Instructor Certification.
