Associate Town Planner Renewables and Data Centres, Edinburgh

Net Zero People are working with a leading Renewables developer based in Edinburgh, seeking an Associate Town Planner to join their planning department.

The Associate Town Planner will oversee the existing portfolio of planning applications, primarily involving Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Data Centres within Scotland's central belt. They will facilitate the progression of these sites through the planning process.

This role is vital in helping the company meet its business objectives and in identifying new opportunities. Responsibilities include managing third-party Planning Consultants, developing strategies to secure planning approvals within deadlines, and engaging with stakeholders such as Councillors, public groups, and other key parties, including speaking at planning committees.

The successful candidate will also assist in identifying new business prospects and assessing planning risks, with a focus on delivering successful outcomes efficiently. While a formal Town Planning qualification is not mandatory, candidates should have experience working for a developer, leading site progression through planning, and a solutions-oriented approach to meet deadlines.
