Job description

Job Description

The Apprentice Chemist is involved in the development of new products and the provision of technical support to Fosroc UK operating company. They will help to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of projects and products that meet the needs of the business.

Responsibilities
  1. Support the successful development of new Fosroc products
  2. Ensure all practical lab and site activities are in full accordance with HSE and other related policies
  3. Maintain testing equipment and lab areas
  4. Follow good practice and rigorous adherence to test methods and protocols
  5. Provide high-level technical support to the Fosroc UK operating company, relating to alternative materials evaluations, resolving production issues, product testing, and application demonstrations
  6. Ensure all work activities are appropriately documented/recorded

  • Experience working with different cultures and in unfamiliar environments
  • Work experience in science

Essential Educational Requirements

  • GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 4 (C) or above)
  • GCSE or equivalent in Math (Grade 4 (C) or above)
  • A Level Chemistry (Grade 3 (C) or above) or equivalent Science BTEC
  • A Level Maths (Grade 3 (C) or above)
Job Role Notes

Working Environment: Processes can produce dust, vapour, fume, and noise. Engineering controls are taken to remove the potential for hazard. PPE will be used where necessary and is provided in accordance with site requirements.

Working hours: 30 hours per week at Fosroc site in Tamworth, with 1 day per week released for study at a partnering institution.

Location: Tamworth, UK
