Job description

We are recruiting for a Security and Campus Operations role to provide a service here at Somerville House. We’re looking for a dynamic and vibrant professional who can work autonomously and engage with curriculum and support staff, including Health and Safety and Estates teams, to ensure our campus operates safely and provides a positive student experience.

What You Will Do
  1. Support the Campus Deputy Director to ensure the location is operated safely for staff and students.
  2. Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders, ensuring a professional service at all times.
  3. Ensure general security, maintenance, and safeguarding of the campus site and grounds are maintained.
  4. Contribute to measures that will improve security and facilities, leading some of these improvements.
  5. Engage with students to ensure they feel welcome and safe, understand behavioural standards, intervene restoratively where necessary, and ensure compliance with ID card policies, submitting incident reports as needed.
  6. Undertake security duties including guarding, patrolling, access control, CCTV monitoring, supporting a safe environment, and securing college buildings, contents, and grounds.
  7. Liaise with facilities staff to support on-site contractors and visitors, ensuring compliance with college policies and submitting incident reports as required.
  8. Assist with fire activations, emergency procedures, and testing fire alarms.
About You
  1. GCSEs including English and Maths (or equivalent).
  2. Health and Safety Training.
  3. Qualified First Aider.
  4. SIA Licence or willingness to undertake security training.
  5. Experience in providing facilities services effectively, efficiently, and compliantly.
  6. Experience communicating supportively and restoratively with students and young people.
