ENGINEERING PROJECT SPECIALIST

BASED PERTH HQ AND ONSITE GLASGOW WITH CLIENT

With a base in Perth and clients across mainly Scotland and other locations, Grw Talent’s client is an industry leading engineering services company delivering top quality structural, mechanical, and electrical projects for blue-chip manufacturers in a range of industries. The company is engaged in a number of asset integrity and plant, machine/utilities installation and commissioning for clients in FMCG, particularly Brewing.

They now need to make the key hire of a Project Specialist to provide support to the Project Manager working on a brown field development project for a household Scottish Brewer in the Greater Glasgow area.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Specialist will play a multi-faceted role working across the technical, supply chain and people aspects of this project. Overall, you will help ensure that the project is brought in on time and budget. Some of your core responsibilities immediately will include:

  • Health and Safety support – creating risk and method statements; inducting staff and suppliers onto site and monitoring / driving the HSE culture to ensure think safe, act safe, be safe.
  • Project Support – support with creation of progress reports; procurement of goods/services and materials required to site; and liaise closely with sub-contractors and hire companies.
  • Engineering Support – monitor progress to master plan and budget; and ensure release of technical drawings checking their quality and compliance.
  • Admin Support – drive positive / upbeat / pertinent communications across the site
  • Working collaboratively and communicating widely with the other functional stakeholders both internally and externally. Stakeholders include Design Team, Procurement, Fabrication Workshop, Site Engineers, Finance, Suppliers and Customers.

We are looking for experienced Engineering Project Managers, Project Engineers or Technical project support specialists with a strong generalist background. We would be especially interested in speaking to candidates delivering engineering services and projects onsite for clients. This could include installation and commissioning of new assets, plant, utilities or equipment. Candidates are either time served or degree qualified and will have good experience of managing / leading / supporting other sub-contractors, trades and service providers. Site Management Safety Training Scheme cetification and knowledge of CDM regualtions will also be advantageous.

The role will largely be based from the client site in Glasgow for the next 4-5 months and then you will move internally onto new projects. The candidate will also be required to attend regularly the company HQ in Perth. Travel to and from the Glasgow customer site is paid for. This role offers someone a great chance to support high value FMCG/brewing projects from a customer facing perspective. Lots of opportunities for advancement are on offer.
