Job Description:

Could you be our next Trustee and Chair of our People Committee?

Every hour, two people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s. So we urgently need new treatments, more support for people living with Parkinson’s, and more funds to find a cure. Enter Parkinson’s UK. In the last 50 years, we’ve invested over £120 million in cutting-edge research to uncover the causes of Parkinson’s. We believe we’re close to finding a solution. But to achieve this, we need a diverse network of people working across the charity to make breakthroughs that change lives.

Guided by the Parkinson’s community, we’ve shaped our strategy ‘Every Parkinson’s Journey’ for 2023 to 2026. Our strategic aims focus on improving access to health and care, enhancing our community support, and continuing groundbreaking research.

We are a growing organization with 605 employees, 4000 volunteers, and a projected income of £43m. The Board of Trustees and its committees govern diligently, ensuring financial stability, good management, and alignment with the community’s needs. Trustees contribute actively and are responsible both individually and collectively.

Our goal is to remove barriers so everyone in our community can access tailored support and services. We strive for a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the community we serve.

About the role

We seek a new Trustee to join our Board in October 2025. As Trustee, you will chair the Board’s People Committee and advise the Board as needed. This committee covers nominations and remuneration and oversees our People and Culture Strategy for staff and volunteers.

Our trustees come from diverse backgrounds. This role requires substantial recent experience in organizational development and/or strategic HR. You should have experience chairing formal meetings and understanding trustee responsibilities, particularly in strategic HR, remuneration, and nominations within a medium to large charity.

This is an exciting time as Parkinson’s UK prepares to shape its strategy for 2027 and beyond.
