Job summary

This application is for the post of Trust Clinical Fellow - NHSE Education Fellow in Anaesthesia at University College Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis and provides an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven candidate to join a progressive and dynamic department and work with the London School of Anaesthesia in developing a successful and sustainable pan-London educational programme.

This post is designed to support the design and delivery of the London School of Anaesthesia (LSA) educational activities and will be of interest to individuals wishing to build on their personal teaching experience to develop expertise in education delivery and management and make a commitment to education as part of their career.

Main duties of the job

The post is for a clinical fellowship and will involve a split of clinical sessions and educational activities.

The post holder will be working with the Head of School, Deputy Head of School, Anaesthetic TPDs, School Leads in Trainee Recovery, Simulation and Education, Trainee Representatives, and all other stakeholders on key initiatives to support trainees teaching and education and quality improvement work for our School, regularly attending the Pan London School Board meeting to feedback on progress.

An example of some of the areas of you will be working on include:
  • Contribute to design and operational delivery of the LSA Education and Simulation Strategy, including RTDs, Simulation courses, Exam revision courses and other courses.
  • Develop a quality assurance process and monitoring of educational delivery.
  • Support the delivery of Digital Transformation initiatives in the school for trainees and trainers. This may include:
    • Contribute to the development of the London School of Anaesthesia Website
    • Develop other digital educational resources.
Fellows will also be given the opportunity to run appropriate elective lists independently to build their practice.

On call commitments are typical 1 in 9, covering theatres and/or the labour ward. Where the on call rota is full, an alternative rota will apply - this will be discussed beforehand should it apply.
