Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Senior Financial Accountant to join the UK division of the UK&I Finance Team. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for delivering the financials for our main UK trading operation, with revenues in excess of $8 billion.

As our parent company is listed on Nasdaq we are responsible for maintaining both US GAAP and local GAAP financials, as well as ensuring that we comply with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

The key roles and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Supporting in delivering finance responsibilities which include completing the month end close procedures in line with the current timetable.
  • Complete monthly, QTD and YTD financial analysis of the UK & Ireland operations financial results, providing explanations for key variances and preparing commentary for submission to both the European VP of Finance and Group Controllership (based in the US).
  • Support in preparing specific schedules in the monthly management accounts.
  • Preparing month end journal entries in respect of payroll accounting, subcontractor accruals and professional services accruals amongst other areas.
  • Reviewing the monthly profit and loss account and balance sheet to identify and understand significant variance.
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly financial information for review with the Regional Finance Director, as well as supporting on any adhoc analysis requests.
  • Supporting on any mergers and acquisition activity within the division. This will include working directly with the acquired finance teams to deliver timely, accurate information on the financial position and performance of the operation as well as liaising with the M&A project teams.
  • Preparation of statutory financial information including tax packs and related inputs used by the tax team in calculating corporation tax.
  • Responding to queries raised by the business in respect of the financial results.
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations in line with the current close calendar and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Owning various SOX controls including payroll related controls. Also, liaising with both external and internal auditors to ensure that SOX and other compliance obligations are met.
  • Completing VAT returns on a quarterly basis, ready for review with the VAT team.
  • Responsible for managing property related month end accounting entries for the main UK operation. This will include lease accounting under both US GAAP and local GAAP as well as meeting with key stakeholders to ensure figures are reported accurately.
  • Support the team on process improvement projects that are being undertaken.

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified ACA / CIMA / ACCA candidate or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Relevant experience.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • PeopleSoft and Hyperion experience advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong Written & Verbal Communication Skills.
