Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer

We are recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, carrying out maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area, including the top of M25, M4, M11, and bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

This role involves working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field, delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, helping to keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending cable breaks and repairing copper and fibre cables.
• Completing commissioning of equipment to standard, on time and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
• Performing general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing all required documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments, is essential.

• Experience with motorway communications or related equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
