The role

We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst to work closely with a team of analysts based in Oxford, focused on meeting the needs of our clients in the global sugar sector.

The role involves undertaking detailed economic, quantitative, market analysis, and research assignments, including forecasting supply and demand, price outlooks, policy analysis, performance/cost of production benchmarking, and carrying out bespoke consulting projects such as feasibility studies, market segment price outlooks, and policy analysis.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out analysis and forecasts supporting the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual services of the sugar research team.
• Tracking and forecasting sugar supply, demand, price, and policy developments in key geographies.
• Overseeing the maintenance and organization of the database underpinning the analysis.
• Managing consulting projects with support from other team members.
• Developing detailed knowledge of the sugar industry to provide expertise to our clients.
• Liaising with industry stakeholders (grower associations, producers, consumers, policymakers); occasional research trips may be involved.

We seek individuals with intelligent, enquiring, and analytical minds, capable of applying microeconomic and statistical analysis in real-world situations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a desire to acquire detailed knowledge of the sugar sector, with the ability to articulate economic ideas clearly and simply, including policies, market trends, and structural changes shaping the sector.

Applicants with a background in agricultural economics (Masters or above) are preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
