Field Sales Executive

Job Details

Location: Reading, United Kingdom

Hours of Work: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Salary: Up to £25,000-£27,000 per annum + 10% performance bonus

Company & Role Overview

Instore, part of Smiths News, is recruiting a Field Sales Representative to expand retail distribution within the Independent Retail Sector (Convenience, CTN, Grocery, etc.). The role involves selling our client’s products, a household brand supplying supermarkets, high street stores, garden centres, and e-commerce platforms. The position requires managing a territory, visiting retailers, and acting as the key liaison between the brand and Smiths News.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Achieve sales and distribution targets across assigned accounts.
  2. Build and maintain strong customer relationships and identify new distribution opportunities.
  3. Manage territory effectively, visiting retailers and promoting products.
  4. Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, sharing best practices.
  5. Maintain high standards in all sales activities and administration.
  6. Understand the retail landscape to leverage seasonal and competitor opportunities.
  7. Use tools to facilitate ongoing product orders and delivery network understanding.
Candidate Requirements
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in sales or retail, preferably in FMCG or consumer goods.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and sales techniques.
  • Experience with remote field activities and achieving KPIs.
  • Organizational and planning skills, with a focus on sales conversions.
  • Analytical skills and a proven sales success record.
  • Ability to influence change and document ideas for performance improvement.
  • Full and clean driving license.
