Job Role: Mechanical Engineer

Location: HMP Swaleside

Salary: £38,333.37 per annum

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (39 hours)

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Swaleside, a CATEGORY B prison. Join a supportive and driven team working Monday to Friday to create a safe and nurturing environment.

HMP Swaleside functions like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to operate smoothly. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, your work will impact prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Team Environment

You will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all committed to making a positive difference and providing a secure environment.

Candidate Requirements
  • At least two years' experience as a plumber or similar role
  • Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
  • Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Qualifications: C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
  • Strong organisational and people skills
