Job Description
Job role overview: A Package Lead will take responsibility for the delivery of the Design and Development of a package of components on a motorcycle. Ensuring that these parts are delivered within the set time, cost, quality, and specification constraints as per the NMIP process, either directly or through managing Senior Design Engineers and/or Design Engineers.
Report to: Area Lead Engineer or Functional Lead
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivering the design and development of a motorcycle component package, consulting with specialists and chief engineers as needed.
- Ensure delivery aligns with time, cost, quality, and specification targets according to the NMIP process and KPIs.
- This is a highly technical role focused on detail and delivery, involving planning for package delivery and leadership when reporting to Design/Senior Design Engineers.
- Communicate and collaborate across the supply/value chain to maximize team effectiveness.
- Create and maintain detailed project plans to meet current and future deliverables.
- Deliver according to key KPIs driven by cost, time, quality, and specification, both directly and through leadership of reporting engineers.
- Follow established processes and procedures to minimize project and product risks, while challenging these processes to improve department effectiveness.
- Escalate concerns, risks, and issues through the reporting chain.
- Mentor, coach, and support the development of direct reports, including performance management.
- Undertake and assist with projects as required by your manager.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by your manager.
Requirements:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Highly technical approach with strong attention to detail.
- Good technical judgment and decision-making skills, collaborating effectively to leverage experience.
- Ability to demonstrate urgency and consistently deliver as promised.
- Ability to plan ahead for package workload and release schedules.
