We have an exciting 12-month fixed term contract opportunity in the Aviva Norwich office for an ambitious professional to join our GL Close team in Finance as a General Ledger Accounting SME.

We’re looking for a motivated finance professional to join our General Ledger (GL) Close team as a Subject Matter Expert. You’ll help deliver accurate and timely month-end close processes for our UK General Insurance business. This role is key to delivering Aviva’s general insurance legal entity results, financial reporting, improving processes, and embedding change. You’ll work closely with other SMEs and people managers to ensure strong financial control. It’s a great opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

A bit about the job:

This role sits within the UK & Ireland General Insurance General Ledger Accounting Control & Operations team, supporting the delivery of accurate and timely month-end close processes. You’ll be responsible for managing key financial controls, reviewing ledger inputs, and ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet. The role focuses on UK General Insurance but may also support Ireland, working closely with teams across Finance, including Financial Reporting, Reinsurance, and Actuarial. The role will suit someone able to work with and analyse large volumes of data, and who can quickly understand technical concepts and infrastructure.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Qualified accountant or suitable financial experience
  • Experience of operating strong financial control
  • Good analytical skills with a curiosity mindset, proficient with MS Excel
  • Strong stakeholder relationship and communication skills
  • Team player who can adapt and learn quickly
