The Role:

The Investment Accounting Oversight Specialist will play a key role in a centralised function for Investment Accounting across the various M&G fund ranges, including Life Funds. This team is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of ledger data, providing analytical and regulatory reporting, technical guidance and supporting business change. Linking with other oversight teams to ensure there is a consistent and risk-based approach across all funds. This will be part of the Investment Accounting Oversight Team and will work closely with many functions within M&G and third-party administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Oversight Specialist, you will partner with third-party administrators and key stakeholders across M&G. The role holder requires excellent people management and influencing skills, wide-ranging knowledge of Investment Accounting processes and regulatory requirements.

You will have a background in Financial Services with an understanding of Investment Accounting and experience of influencing at a variety of levels.

You will be part of an onboarding project with a new supplier and will be involved in the oversight design and implementation of the new model.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working on the onboarding of a new supplier and being part of the design and implementation.
  • Act as a point of contact for all data matters relating to third-party accounting records.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customer outcomes, and a reduction in M&G’s operational risk.
  • Work within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems.
  • Meet the required standard for the governance framework for oversight of third-party suppliers ensuring they deliver in accordance with defined service level agreements and evolve with our business.
  • Analysis of emerging trends and issues.
  • Further develop the oversight framework and continual process improvement.
  • Ensure that all controls and procedures are documented and up to date.

You will have:

  • Technical experience of the pricing and workings of Investment Funds and alternative assets.
  • Experience of different asset types and valuation methodologies.
  • Previous experience within an accounting oversight function within Financial Services.
  • Experience in setting up new processes and procedures.
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Willingness to learn through practical application.
  • Accountant by qualification or experience.
