Job title: Principal Engineer - HVAC - FTCLocation: Scotstoun - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Up to £67,300 (dependent on skills and experience) - 2 years fixed term contract (FTC)

What you'll be doing:
  1. Carry out relatively complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
  2. Prepare specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained
  3. Act as main point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives
  4. Provide progress reports for allocated work packages, ensuring that the agreed scope is delivered within budget
  5. Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational needs
  6. Develop the team through the L&D and performance management process, identifying training and development requirements and skill gaps
  7. Provide technical support to Senior Management team members
Your skills and experiences:
  • Essential: Degree or equivalent qualification and/or experience within a Marine Mechanical Engineering discipline (Fluid Systems)
  • Experience with Chilled Water Systems/Refrigeration Systems design and knowledge of equipment
  • Experience in management of large stakeholder groups and supplier coordination

Desirable:

  • Experience in other relevant Mechanical Systems (HVAC Systems / Building Services)
  • Experience in the design, build, integration, support and operation of Naval ships
  • Control Systems knowledge relevant to Chilled Water / Refrigeration / HVAC

Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline. Applicants should be a Chartered Engineer or hold another professional registration with a relevant institution.

The Canada HVAC & Chilled Water Systems team:

This role offers a varied scope of work over the next few years, working within a collaborative environment on a fast-paced project providing engineering solutions to a varied stakeholder community.

It requires deep specialist knowledge in mechanical aspects of Chilled Water/HVAC Systems to solve complex design challenges. The position involves understanding business processes and coordinating engineering activities to meet objectives while maintaining quality and cost efficiency. You will work closely with suppliers, the customer, and other BAE functions.

Our working approach will enable you to have flexibility with your working hours, depending on your role and location. This could include accruing hours as well as flexibility around start and finish times, ensuring you can balance life at work, on site, and at home.
