Job description

The Senior Hardware Engineer role is tailored for an individual with deep experience in hardware design, specifically in RF systems and spectrum monitoring.


Responsibilities:

  1. Involved in the complete lifecycle of hardware development, including detailed circuit design, prototyping, testing and verification, and system integration.
  2. Develop Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts and assemblies, preparing them for manufacturing.
  3. Prototyping and Testing: Prototype and test new hardware designs, troubleshooting and fixing any issues that arise.
  4. Documentation: Produce comprehensive design documentation to support long-term product support.
  5. Archive all hardware and software designs to preserve the company's intellectual property.
  6. Develop custom test tools for your designs, using GitLab for version control and collaborating on software development.
  7. Project Planning: Plan and prioritize tasks to ensure that project deadlines are met.
  8. Status Reports: Provide regular project updates and status reports.

Requirements:

  1. Schematic Design: Experience designing hardware schematics, focusing on robust, efficient designs.
  2. Proficiency in PCB layout design to create functional and manufacturable hardware systems.
  3. Knowledge of bus protocols such as PCIe, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
  4. FPGA Design: Experience in designing FPGAs using Verilog or VHDL design languages.
  5. Familiarity with Linux embedded systems for integration and operation of hardware components.
  6. Experience working with microcontrollers and System on Chips (SOC) devices.
  7. Ability to write embedded software in C and Assembler.
  8. Experience in conducting system tests and characterization of hardware components.
  9. Strong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to debug using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  10. Hand soldering skills for modifying prototypes and working on detailed hardware changes.

Desirable:

  1. Knowledge of SDR technology and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms.
  2. Familiarity with RF test and measurement techniques, using tools like Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
  3. Understanding of high-speed digital design, particularly for RF and communication applications.
  4. Knowledge of the architecture of radio systems, ensuring designs meet functional and performance requirements.
  5. Experience with radio circuit simulation and design for signal integrity and system performance.
  6. Familiarity with rapid prototyping of RF designs and mechanical structures to quickly iterate on new concepts.
