Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for all aspects of monitoring and measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of their assigned area(s) of responsibility, taking corrective or preventive actions based on trending or unacceptable results by monitoring activities and ensuring overall compliance to documented and accepted quality practices in their area(s). The Quality Engineer will take an active role in ensuring processes and products meet or exceed customer requirements, processes are being ran to defined parameters and maintains quality document accuracy, integrity and compliance.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of how to manage quality systems within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Execute PPAP submissions, as required.
  • Preparation and submission of customer required documentation and construction of 8D and 5 Why problem-solving responses.
  • Facilitate and assure maintenance of Process Flows (PF) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) documents for assigned programs.
  • Ensure compliance to Process Control Plan requirements.
  • Use 6S concepts to ensure organization for assigned area(s).
  • Knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning including strong proficiency with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan, FMEAs, PPAPs, MSA and Statistical Process Control (SPC) standards.
  • Knowledge of quality statistical concepts and robust problem-solving methodology. Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including experience preparing problem solving documents such as 8D's.
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing methods.

Skills / Abilities

  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related.
  • Experience with ISO/IATF Quality Systems is required. Internal Auditor certification is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in use of a computer and common office software (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment.
  • Support customers, suppliers, personnel, and operations staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Able to use quality gauges.
  • Able to understand complex math.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with Minitab software.

Education / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, Material, Electrical, Electronic or Industrial Engineering or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience developing and managing quality systems.
  • Track record of successful project and QMS implementations/experience with production validation process preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

  • Team Member must be able to sit, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Team Member must be able to bend, kneel, and stoop.
  • Team Member must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Team Member must be able to see, hear, focus, read, write, understand instructions in English.
  • Team Member must be able to understand all verbal communication and react accordingly.
