Job Description

My client is seeking to appoint a Family Law Paralegal, including those seeking a route to qualification or a Training Contract. The role involves supporting the Family Law Department in cases such as divorce, financial remedy disputes, civil partnership disputes, rights of unmarried and cohabitating couples, private law children disputes, and domestic abuse. (Note: No child care work involved.)

Responsibilities

1. Assist with new enquiries received.
2. Support the department’s legal surgery sessions.
3. Undertake fee-earning work on client matters under appropriate supervision.
4. Perform administrative tasks related to client cases.
5. Handle applications for funding from the Legal Aid scheme.
6. Assist with marketing efforts, including networking with local external agencies that refer work to the department.

Requirements

Prior experience in family law is required, preferably with familiarity with the Legal Aid Scheme, as the client holds a contract with the Legal Aid Agency in this category.
