We are currently offering a compelling opportunity within the IT Digital tribe for a Senior Full Stack Engineer. This role presents an exceptional chance for an individual with substantial web development experience to make a direct impact on Admiral Group's portfolio of websites.

In the capacity of a Senior Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to spearhead the development of changes across all our brand websites, including constructing new websites and web pages. Your role demands the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to defined standards. Staying abreast of the latest frontend and backend development technologies is crucial. Your ability to work seamlessly within a team and independently will be essential, requiring effective multitasking, workload prioritization, and resourcefulness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop websites to meet specifications outlined by internal stakeholders.
  • Amend and update webpage content.
  • Implement new functionalities and features based on business needs.
  • Provide accurate estimates and manage multiple tasks with dependencies.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders through clear communication.
  • Deliver secure, high-quality, and maintainable code promptly, following development guidelines.

Skills and Experience

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in PHP development with standard frameworks.
  • Experienced in HTML and CSS (SASS) for modular, accessible, and standards-compliant websites.
  • Familiar with GIT or similar version control systems.
  • Experienced in developing mobile-responsive templates and components.
  • Skilled in working with SQL databases.
  • Proficient in CI/CD pipelines and cloud hosting, including Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and modern development standards.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment and with Docker.
  • Experience in code review and mentoring junior developers.
  • Strong understanding of the full development process and working with CI.
  • Ability to translate design files into web pages and applications.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for web development.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with designers on UI/UX development.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.

Desirable Skills (Willingness to Develop):

  • Experience with Drupal and Twig templates.
  • Familiarity with Storybook, accessibility standards, Google Tag Manager, NextJS/React, GitLab, Azure DevOps, and testing processes.

Interview Process

Includes an online test and a 30-minute interview via MS Teams.

Location

Hybrid role: working from Cardiff HQ twice a month or attending the office a few times a year for remote workers.
