About the team:

The Global Banking Technology & Operations (GBTO) unit delivers services to GBIS Business Units and clients. The IT teams within GBTO combine IT expertise with a deep understanding of investment banking, supporting operational and transaction processing activities.

Within Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking (SGCIB), the IT department provides business units with their Information Systems. Based in London, you will join the Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) Support team, supporting FIC operations in London.

Summary of Key Purposes of the Role:

As a Senior Application Support, you will support market activities for Front Office users in London, Paris, and EMEA, addressing functional and technical issues related to pricing, electronic market contributions, negotiations, and STP booking, with exposure to risk and P&L considerations.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring operational stability and availability of Forex trading and booking applications.
  2. Maintaining relationships with global Forex support teams, local helpdesk, IT development, infrastructure, and project teams for business continuity.
  3. Communicating with users for incident updates, requests, and enhancements, tracking statuses.
  4. Identifying process improvements and proposing transformations for operations and services.
  5. Mentoring and training junior support staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver L1/L2 application support, troubleshoot incidents, and track user requests and KPIs.
  • Monitor production environments, perform checks, and address issues proactively.
  • Escalate complex issues to Level 3 support or infrastructure teams, collaborate on enhancements.
  • Maintain knowledge documentation of support activities and procedures.
  • Build strong partnerships with business users and IT peers through clear communication.
  • Provide support during trading hours and holidays, performing on-duty tasks as required.
  • Participate in Agile sprints, contributing to coding, analysis, testing, and training.

Profile required

  • 8-10 years of application support experience within Forex.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in high-pressure environments.
  • Proactive, team-oriented attitude for a 24x5 global setup.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Forex cash products; knowledge of Rate products or Options is a plus.

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in Windows and Unix/Linux OS.
  • Experience with SQL databases (Postgres, Oracle, Sybase).
  • Understanding trading processes, including FIX, order management, pricing, and market making.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident and problem management.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (ELK, Grafana).
  • Object-oriented programming languages such as C# .NET and Python are a plus.
